Horse Health Requirements
Each horse must have a negative coggins test within twelve (12) months of the sale. NOTE: Canadian horses must have International Health papers for transport between countries. Any questions on this should be directed to your vet or visit the following web site: www.aphis.USDA.gov/vs.
All mares sold vet checked in foal, if questionable, must be checked at the buyer’s expense before leaving the fairgrounds. If found not to be in foal it will be at the seller’s expense. All mares not vet checked in foal will be assumed to be open. We will have a vet on the grounds.
Check In
No horses will be allowed on the grounds without proper coggins papers. Horses arriving must be taken directly to the check-in office to have their paperwork processed. Sale numbers will be assigned and horses can be stalled. Be sure to send your coggins papers with your trucker if you plan to send the horses ahead of yourself.
Hay, Bedding, and Feed
All consignors are responsible for their own feed and hay. First bedding will be provided.
Registrations
If the horse is registered we will send the papers to the new owner. Catalog number of the horse is the sale number. Buyers: All sales are final. The seller of the horse guarantees the identity of each animal as it appears on the registration certificate. Title passes at the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer at which time all risks and responsibility for the horse passes to the buyer.
Terms
All consignments must have a new halter and lead rope, otherwise the sale committee will supply one and charge the seller for the cost. No horse will be allowed to leave the grounds without a checkout slip indicating full payment. All horses must be removed from the barns by 8:00 pm Thursday evening, the last day of the sale unless other arrangements are made with the sale committee. All sellers are responsible for their horses up until the time that the gavel falls, after which the buyer is in full responsibility.
The sale committee of the Michiana Driving Horse Sale, LLC reserves the right to reject any horses for any reason including, but not limited to: unsoundness, poor condition, and improper documentation of registration or health papers.
